The thought and the idea came to mind immediately after coming back home from Zimbabwe. It became more of an obsession which eventually ended up like being haunted. As the kids were growing it simply became apparent that in the near future, we would require a relatively larger home for them to grow and enjoy their lifetime with us. After a visit from Zimbabwe, where I experienced the beauty of having a larger living space, I asked myself why I wouldn’t need to consider doing the same in New Zealand. Ofcourse we had built the Crowhill Place with my sister’s held with the long term view of one day returning and growing old in a free more relaxing place.
But for now I was here in Aoeteroa. When I looked at how much I was expending for Magnolia Drive Place, I did the math and realised that I was simply sitting on a jewel I was not fully utilising. So I gathered the courage to approach the bank, expressed my desire to acquire a bigger place, with no intention to dispose the current place. Main reason was the hassle and uncertainty involved in selling a current place and the same time hoping to get the right place with the same time frame. During the time in about 2018, the strategy was once you find a place of interest, you will sign a purchase agreement with a conditional clause that would allow you to get out of the deal if you are not in a position to dispose the property you currently own within a particular time frame.
Others would work with an option to sell their property first and then look for a rental or live with relatives
